Wind Energy America Submits Interconnection Request for 250 MW Wyoming Wind Project

Posted on March 3rd, 2010.

Wind Energy America Inc.  confirmed it submitted a formal request for interconnection of 250 Megawatts of wind generation, to Black Hills Power, Inc., for the Company’s Weston Wind I wind power project, located in Weston County, Wyoming.

The project will be capable of generating enough power (approximately 600 million kilowatt-hours annually) to serve about 60,000 homes. WEA anticipates moving forward on several development milestones including evaluation of 5 years of meteorological data, permitting, interconnection and PPA negotiations over the coming months. This project is one of several in WEA’s project pipeline, initiated by the current management team prior to joining WEA in November of 2009.

“With our request for interconnection to Black Hills Power, we are able to advise shareholders and other interested parties that our Weston Wind I project, which will be sited on a recently leased 10,000+ acre privately-owned ranch, is proceeding satisfactorily and as contemplated by the Company,” said Brian Hill, CDO of WEA.
